nike athlete, jeanette wang and she was briefed about this shoe early in the year. And when she got word that she was being passed on a pair, she got crazy excited about it. problem was, she got them the night before of the race. Any other runner would advise against this. Using a brand new shoe on the race day itself is a big no. she texted it first on the treadmill the night before and her text to one of the her contacts in nike read:

Nike double checked this with her and asked her if she was sure and if this was wise –
She went on and not only did she finish the race, she championed the women’s division in 9 hours and a half with the nike lunar shoes.

Her text to nike after the race read:

My take on the shoe:
After hearing all the hype and excitement about this shoe, I got a little excited myself. I was mentally preparing myself that I might feel something off here and there cause my foot was not the same as jeanette’s foot (after all right?). so just to be on the safe side, I brought along my air zoom elite (which was my regular pair) so as not to ruin my workout.
Jeanette was right, you’ll instantly feel the ‘wow’ factor within your first 20 steps. I first tried it for 5km on the treadmill and I usually clock in a 6min pace, but then the shoe felt so good I had a real good time running in them and clocked in a 5’19 pace. I just kept on going faster and faster. No sore, no ache, no nothing given that it was the first time I took them running. I felt the spring, I felt the bounce, and weight distribution / management of the shoe was superb.
what it is, is that its an entirely new kind of foam that nike developed with nasa and vice versa.
Cant wait to try this on the 15km infinity wave run this Sunday at the fort.
shoe is already available in the US, but for asia, it will be available on october 2008.
